A draft version of the FIN-CAM (Finnish Career Assessment Matrix) assessment tool, designed for the diverse assessment of individual researchers, is open for comments until Feb 7th.

A working group appointed by the Steering Group for Responsible Assessment of the Researcher has prepared a draft version of the FIN-CAM (Finnish Career Assessment Matrix) assessment tool, designed for the diverse assessment of individual researchers. Comment on the draft by Feb 7th 2025!

FIN-CAM is a national assessment tool designed to facilitate a comprehensive, systematic and transparent examination of the wide range of work areas, merits and competence of an individual researcher in various assessment situations. However, no one is expected to be successful in all of these work areas at the same time.

We hope to receive feedback on the draft version from organisations conducting researcher assessments as well as researchers working in different sectors and at different stages of their career. You can provide feedback either as a representative of an organisation or as a private individual. The feedback will be utilised for the purpose of completing FIN-CAM.

The draft version of FIN-CAM is 29 pages long and the commenting proceeds one section at a time. At the end of the feedback form, you will have the option to present general observations and development needs. When commenting on the sections, you can consider things such as the following:

  • Are there relevant skills or competencies missing from the section?

  • Do you think that any of the skills or competencies mentioned would fit better under another section?

  • Should anything relevant be added to the examples of qualitative and quantitative descriptions?

If you would like to take a look at the survey before responding, you can download the survey form here:

The survey is carried out by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. You can respond to the survey in Finnish, Swedish or English.
